James Arthur, Esq., is the Managing Partner and founding member of Sterling LexGuard Solicitors, a leading UK-based criminal defence firm renowned for its rigorous advocacy, strategic precision, and commitment to justice. With over two decades of legal experience, James has established himself as one of the country’s foremost criminal defence practitioners, representing clients in some of the most complex and high-profile cases across the United Kingdom.
James began his legal career after earning his LL.B. (Hons) from the University of London, followed by completion of the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law. His early years in practice were spent with a prominent City firm, where he developed a reputation for his meticulous case preparation and unrelenting pursuit of client interests. Recognising the need for a law practice that combined legal excellence with client-centred service, he founded Sterling LexGuard Solicitors — a firm built on integrity, innovation, and the highest professional standards.
As Managing Partner, James leads the firm’s criminal defence division, specialising in serious and complex crime, including fraud, money laundering, homicide, organised crime, and regulatory investigations. His strategic insight and persuasive advocacy have secured acquittals and favourable outcomes in cases ranging from Crown Court trials to appellate proceedings. Colleagues and clients alike describe him as a dynamic litigator who combines intellectual rigour with practical acumen.
Beyond the courtroom, James is deeply committed to mentorship and professional development within the legal community. He regularly contributes to legal education through lectures, seminars, and continuing professional development programmes, helping to shape the next generation of criminal defence lawyers. He is also a member of the Criminal Law Solicitors’ Association (CLSA) and the Law Society’s Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme.
James’s leadership at Sterling LexGuard has driven the firm’s growth into a trusted name in criminal defence, known for its discretion, professionalism, and tenacity in defending clients’ rights. Under his direction, the firm has expanded its reach nationwide, handling cases at every level of the criminal justice system.
